About the Artist
Lee Nixon is an impressionist artist living in Orange, Virginia. He retired after 38 years of teaching and continues to create and experiment with various art media.
His stunning palette, filled with vibrant complementary colors, establishes a mood, symbolizes feelings, conveys ideas, and dazzles the viewer. He works primarily in acrylics, often applying numerous colored glazes.
He has a B.S. in Art Education from Virginia State University. He has exhibited at numerous galleries, including The Science Museum of Virginia, The Morin Gallery in Orange, Virginia, The University of Virginia Medical Center, The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, and The Pepco Edison Place Gallery in Washington, D.C. He served as the curator and juror for the recent Rhythm and Light Show in the Purcell Gallery in September 2018.
Artist Statement
I have a passionate desire to share my love of our home, the earth. Each painting reflects a need, care, and reverence for a serene earth. It is my desire to share this with the viewer and lovers of art, through color, pattern, and texture.
