About the artist
Carol Baliles has always been in awe of all things in nature as well as interesting architecture which led her to travel the country and the world for artistic inspiration. She has painted with many types of mediums, but has always favored the fluidity of watercolors. Places Carol has painted include but are not limited to the following: the country sides, Blue Ridge Mountains and Governor’s Mansion of Virginia; oceanside landscapes in Maine; the Rocky Mountains of Colorado; the Grand Canyon and Red Rocks of Sedona in Arizona; Mount Shasta in California; the Andes Mountains and Machu Picchu in Peru; beautiful sceneries and markets in Mexico; Monet’s Gardens and Belle Isle in France; and the Taj Mahal, Himalayan Mountains and Dal Lake in India.
She is a former member of the National Watercolor Society and a member of the National Arts in Embassy Program which took her to India the first time. She has a painting in the Clinton Presidential Library and was a resident artist at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia for over twenty years. Her home has been in Culpeper County, Virginia since 2000.
Carol Baliles’ Tree Series paintings were created in various locations across the Piedmont Region of Virginia.
