ABOUT
THE EXHIBITION

Do Good: Building Community Through Flowers is a collaboration of six artists who understand the power of blooms and worked alongside each other to create this exhibit. We invite you to view this collaborative exhibit and experience common ground through the universal language of flowers.

Flowers are fleeting in nature – their physical beauty is brief and transient.  Just as their delicate petals unfurl we only have a short amount of time with them before they drop. The memory of them - of the event that gifted them, of how we felt receiving or harvesting them - fades.

But just as the remnants of the blooms turn back into earth, what if something more lasting remains?  Inclusion. Community. Love.

blooms4good has taken something so temporary and has given it permanence – they have not only turned flowers into art – but into something more enduring.

blooms4good is a small but mighty squad of flower growers in central Virginia committed to doing good in the community!

As a volunteer-based nonprofit organization, they give every flower dollar to local charities, focusing on those who support marginalized groups. Their goal is to promote connection, understanding, empathy and to advocate for social change.

They believe that tiny acts of goodness can make the world a better place, one bloom at a time.

KATIE
FAZ

Katie has worked as a glass artist since 2013, with her focus in botanical sculptures beginning in 2020.  After working with blooms4good at Merrie Mill Farm & Vineyard and being blessed with an abundance of blooms, she has developed a skill that would immortalize the beauty and the meaning that these flowers have provided

Proceeds from floral jewelry will be donated to The Women’s Initiative: their mission is to provide women with effective counseling, social support, and education in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties so they can transform challenges into positive change and growth.

Eden is a veterinarian by profession, deeply committed to the care and well-being of animals. Alongside her love for science and healing, she has always had a creative side that’s just as much a part of who she is. Eden was first introduced to stained glass art in high school, where she fell in love with the process of turning light and color into something timeless. Life pulled her in other directions for a while, but in 2019, she returned to this art form with renewed passion.

For Eden, flowers hold a special kind of language—one that speaks to the heart without needing words. They express love, sympathy, celebration, and remembrance in ways that are both personal and universal. When she creates floral designs in stained glass, she feels as though she is capturing a moment, a feeling, a memory—something that can be cherished long after the real petals fall. It’s her  way of blending science with art, care with creativity. Just as Eden strives to preserve life in her work as a vet, in glasswork she aims to preserve emotion, letting it shine through the delicate permanence of glass. Each piece becomes a lasting tribute to the feelings flowers quietly carry.

Proceeds from floral stained glass will be donated to Planned Parenthood: an organization that provides a wide range of sexual and reproductive health care services, sex education, and advocates for reproductive rights.

The founders of blooms4good met in the summer of 2023 – Kira had an established flower farm in Barboursville, VA and was looking for an outlet for her blooms while also wanting to do some good. Meanwhile, Kate had launched blooms4good the year prior – she was inspired by the potential her small Gordonsville flower farm could have in the community and decided to leverage her garden to raise money for local nonprofits. The first event was the fall of 2022 – since then, the team has donated over $40,000 to local charities.  This 2025 season they have moved forward in establishing blooms4good as a 501(c)(3) corporation are excited to grow the goodness.

Proceeds from fresh blooms and the community art project will be donated to The Orange County African American Historical Society (OCAAHS): an organization founded to explore African American contributions to the cultural and historical heritage of Orange County, Virginia.

SARAH
MEMERY

Sarah has a life-long love of both watercolor painting and growing cut flowers. Initially inspired by her high school art teacher, Kate Blackwell, and encouraged in Lee Alters classes at the McGuffy Art Center, she continues to learn more watercolor techniques through online courses. She loves how the softness and spontaneity of color blending on paper allows each unique blossom to unfold.

Proceeds from floral watercolors will be donated to The Arts Center in Orange: an organization that works to increase the quality of life in the community by promoting an appreciation for fine contemporary arts in diverse styles and ideologies.

Paris is a Virginia videographer and dried floral artist. She received her BFA in Filmmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts. In her formal studies, as well as professional exploration of film, she has enjoyed her experiences with both solo and collaborative efforts. While she primarily works with documentary-style projects, she still strives to maintain that same level of creativity found in narrative. She does not feel bound to any one format, and loves to experiment with original music and sound design in order to structure films in different ways.

Paris’ love for dried florals began with her own DIY endeavors for her wedding in 2020, and by September of 2022, she had launched her small online flower shop on Etsy and Instagram. She admires the ethereal beauty of flowers, the mindfulness practice that flower arranging provides, and the ability to color outside of the lines with dried florals. Long lasting in nature, they can serve as a structural sculpture medium, offering endless possibilities to those with a heart for whimsy.
